On May 09, 2006 (13 years ago) the decision to end the production of the civilian H1 was made, for many the possibility of owning the best and luxurious off-road vehicle on the road vanished without a fair warning; It was the first and last year of the meanest one yet: The Hummer H1 Alpha. Only 729 units were made! It is a very desirable collector’s item.
The images that you see here are from the last HUMMER H1 Alpha ever made! Yes, you read it right, this was the last one to come out of the production line, certified by AM General; never titled!
This iconic piece of Hummer history came to us with all the proper documentation of a new vehicle and a Hood made specially for the occasion, painted to match the vehicle superb color, Mystic Green, and signed by everyone that work in the H1 Project!

In December of 1999 AM General sold the Hummer name and the rights to market and distribute Hummer vehicles to General Motors. AM General continued to Build the original Hummer (now called H1) at the Mishawaka plant. In mid 2002 AM General began building the all new Hummer H2 as a 2003 model in a new state of the art manufacturing facility adjacent to the HMMWV/H1 plant.
In mid 2005 Hummer introduced the 2006 Hummer H3. The H3 was a midsized SUV based on the Colorado/Canyon truck platform and built at GM’s Shreveport, LA plant.
The final decision to end civilian H1 Production was made on Tuesday May 9th 2006, the decision was officially announced to the public Friday May 12th 2006. There were 729 ’06 H1s built bringing the total number of H1s produced since their introduction in 1992 to 11,818.
June 3rd 2008 GM announces that it is considering selling or closing down the Hummer brand.
GM files for Bankruptcy on June 1st 2009, announces Chinese company Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Company will purchase the Hummer brand the day after.
On February 25th 2010 GM announces the deal with Sichuan Tengzhong for the sale of the Hummer brand has fallen through. GM says they will evaluate any further offers over the next several weeks and if no suitable offers are received, they will begin the «orderly wind-down» of the Hummer brand.
April 7, 2010 notification is sent to Hummer dealers that no «viable» buyers have been found and the «orderly wind-down» of the Hummer brand will begin.
The «wind-down» is completed and GM officially shuts down the Hummer brand on October 31st 2010.

Body-off restoration
With the same passion that drove the original builders of the H1 Alpha, we at Hummer1 are doing «body-off» complete meticulous restorations on the 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha.
What a «body-off» restoration means: we take the body off the vehicle and disassemble every component, part and accessory to the last bolt and nut of the chassis, powertrain and body (exterior and interior). Then everything gets either replaced, rebuilt or restored to new original conditions. It is a long meticulous process to achieve perfection!

The 6.6L Duramax is disassembled, all parts including injectors and the turbo are cleaned, rebuilt, rectified or replaced with new if necessary to guarantee a perfect performance.
The Allison M74 Series 1000 and the New Venture Model 242 transfer case are also disassembled rebuilt and restore to new condition.
Complete new brake system, including new S/S lines, hoses and clamps.
Suspension is inspected to detail, restored or replace with new components if necessary.
The Electrical system is completely inspected, wire harness restored and tested.
Alternator is rebuilt or replaced with new if necessary.
Fuse boxes are inspected and restored to new.
Cooling Systems (all radiators and it hoses: engine, transmission/transfer case, air conditioner and fuel) are replaced with new.
The Zexel Torsen Differentials are inspected and rebuilt to guarantee maximum performance.
Fuel tanks are inspected, cleaned and restored.
The frame is inspected restored back to new condition.
The exhaust system is inspected and restored to new.
The wheels are restored to new, the run-flats are inspected and new tires are mounted on. The central inflation system (CTIS) is inspected, cleaned and rebuilt if necessary.
