New «Restyling» Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 150
The current generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has been around for a while now and is all set to receive a comprehensive update in final 2017. Ahead of its public debut at the 2017 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, Toyota has commenced production of the 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado facelift in Japan, revealing the changes. This is the second major facelift on the present gen Prado, before a complete generation change in the next couple of years.
The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is one of the more capable as well as reliable luxury SUVs out there and enjoys a strong following in India as well. On the facelifted version, the 2018 Prado gets visual updates including a reworked 5-slot grille that stands more upright now, and gets new LED headlamps. The rear has received updates to the taillights and boot for a refreshed look. The front and rear bumper have been revised to incorporate the angular fog lamp enclosures that complement the updated look on the SUV.
Inside, the 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado facelift will get new seat upholstery options, reworked dashboard and new features added to the list. Furthermore, reports suggest that the manufacturer will also add the Toyota Safety Sense P safety system on the 2018 Prado facelift that includes a host of safety equipment including Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection function, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist function, Automatic High Beams, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and much more.
Depending the markets, Engine options on the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado facelift will include the 2.7-litre petrol, 3.5-litre V6 petrol as well as the 4-litre V6 petrol. Diesel power will come from the 2.8-litre and 3-litre four-cylinder oil burners, while a smaller and more frugal 2.4-litre diesel could make its debut on the 2018 model.
Many people find the Prado has different logos on the rear, some with TX and some with VX. Novice drivers may not know what this means, but those who really know the car need only look at the logo on the rear of the Prado to know what kind of car it is.
The first is the TX symbol. Generally speaking, these two letters are the most common. It’s mostly found in entry-level cars with lower specs. There is no reversing image and parking radar, and you need to install it yourself, which also makes many car owners laugh.
There are some configuration upgrades compared to the TX, but not many. For example, multiple tire pressure displays, parking radars, LCD panels, seat heating and ventilation systems and switching from halogen to LED bulbs are all possible.
For many car owners who pay more attention to configuration, TXL may be more popular than TX, and the price has also increased by tens of thousands, depending on the cost-effectiveness of the car owner. There are many versions of TXL with many configurations and different prices, depending on how the car owner chooses.
Compared with TXL, VX is more advanced and has higher regulations. Plaid and more refined interiors. All kinds of materials are exquisite in workmanship, and there are various constant-temperature air conditioners.
Previous models were mostly halogen and xenon lamps on VX models. Of course, the VX version also has its own inner layer, including the VX Universal version, the VX spare tire version and the VX NAVI version.
Also in the VX is the VXL, which is a true top-of-the-line car configuration that adds crawl modes and more for more terrain. But many true off-road enthusiasts, rarely choose this model. After all, this car is too expensive. But if you want to push the envelope, this car is for you.
Although the rear label of the Prado is different, it does not mean that it is not good to buy a low-end version. In general, many car owners are keen to modify it themselves.
Start directly from the low-end version and purchase the configuration yourself for modification, which is more cost-effective. While the actual price of the Prado is hard to estimate, it’s easy to tell the difference between high and low.

1992 Land Cruiser VXL
Stock#5291 The Land Cruiser is one of Japan’s most iconic models, and this 1992 is a special, eye-catching example. This VX Limited is set off by a fresh coat of Frozen Graphite, a one-off hue. Aside from some minor imperfections, the body looks good and this beautiful 80 is being offered with a mere 95k verified and documented miles. Its spacious and upscale inside, and under the flowing bodylines is a center-locked, turbo diesel rig ready to attack a trail at a moment’s notice. For those who want size, performance, and efficiency this JDM SUV is a perfect fit. Recently serviced and turn key ready to roll, this Japanese Classic is collectible, reliable, and won’t last long. The cabin is chocked full of options because this is the top-of-the-line trim. Cruise control and an electric sunroof are just some of the wonderful amenities that make daily use enjoyable. Those who have purchased the American version 80 series have out on some killer equipment, sadly. Our JDM example boasts Toyotas CoolBox center console which keeps beverages cold on long drives. Electric windows, locks, and mirrors which all work, aside from the power-folding function on the driver’s mirror. Whoever gets behind the wheel will find that that the view of the road ahead is clear and commanding. The dash is in good nick and lacks any cracking or distortion. A factory Field Monitor is mounted by the map light and allows the driver to see the direction of travel and also has an altimeter on hand. An adjustable steering column alloys the Nardi leather-wrapped wheel to be set at the right height, and electric lumbar support is located on the drivers’ left-hand side if you have a long road trip planned. The Alacanata upholstery is in good shape overall and lacks any major rip, stains, or tears. Automatic climate control is standard. The large buttons are easy to read and depress and provide heat and A/C to those within the cabin. We wanted to note that only the high and low blower settings work. The door cards and headliner are in good shape, although the carpet has some stains in the cargo area. The cabin also lacks a working head unit, but that’s an easy fix. Overall the interior was kept up nicely in Japan and offers a quiet, refined and pleasurable experience riding around town or on the interstate. The stout, body-on-frame platform that underpins the 80 is an all-time great. Powered by the 1HD-T 4.2L, this big truck gets up and moves. Fresh off an oil and filter service the straight-six diesel whirrs to life with the twist of the key. Two new 12v batteries were installed in our shop and will last for years to come. These 1HD-Ts run fantastic, and this one is connected to an automatic gearbox. The Cruiser shifts with no issues and easily gets up to highway speeds. The full-time 4WD system has a center locker that can be engaged for use on the beach or if you encounter some slippery snow. The ground clearance is impressive and the suspension handles large and small potholes with confidence. The brakes are responsive too, and the front brake pads and rotors were replaced with new ones. The 16″ Frontline SFW-III completes the aesthetic and has 35″ all-terrain rubber-mounted at all four corners. These new tires will last for tens of thousands of miles to come and deliver all the year-round grip you’ll need. *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
