Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 2024
Venturing into the US market after a three-year hiatus, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser has undergone a remarkable transformation. Drawing inspiration from its roots, this off-road SUV is embracing retro styling cues and a more manageable size, while the most thrilling news for enthusiasts is its significantly lower price tag. Eschewing the lofty $87,000 figure of its predecessor, the new Land Cruiser will be attainable for a wider range of adventure seekers, with a starting price expected in the mid-$50,000 range.
Internally known as the J250, this latest iteration proudly rides on the esteemed TNGA-F platform, shared with its Lexus GX sibling and the overseas-only 300-Series Land Cruiser. However, the J250 brings its unique charm with more affordable pricing than the GX and sleeker dimensions compared to the 300-Series.
Regarding its design, the 2024 Land Cruiser embraces a distinctive upkicked window beltline, reminiscent of the GX. Nevertheless, the Land Cruiser manages to exude an air of purposeful ruggedness, distinguishing itself from the flashier aesthetics of the Lexus counterpart. Up front, the Toyota dons a robustly blocky front bumper and a rectangular grille opening. The trim options further play with the nostalgic vibes, featuring either round LED headlights for the 1958 edition and First Edition, or rectangular units, reminiscent of the FJ62, for the aptly named Land Cruiser trim.
On the rear, simplicity reigns supreme, as the Land Cruiser foregoes a full-width light bar in favor of classic squared-off taillights on the corners. The unfussy design harkens back to a time when SUVs were tools crafted for a specific mission. Notably, the 250-Series LC includes a hatch glass that can open independently, though the old-school downward-folding tailgate has been replaced by a more conventional liftgate.
Serious off-roaders should take note of the standard all-season tires across all trim levels. While practical, more capable rubber might be a desirable upgrade for those craving adventure on rough terrains. Wheel designs, however, leave much to be desired, and enthusiasts yearning for both aesthetics and robustness on challenging roads may have wished for old-school steelies as an option.
Under the hood, the US version of the 250-Series Land Cruiser adopts the advanced I-Force Max turbocharged 2.4-liter inline-four engine. Don’t let its size fool you, as it generates a staggering 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. Moreover, the inclusion of a 48-hp electric motor within the eight-speed automatic gearbox ensures ample torque even at low speeds, enabling the Land Cruiser to conquer tough terrains with ease and agility.
Remaining true to its heritage, the new Land Cruiser comes standard with a four-wheel-drive system. This full-time setup includes a selectable two-speed transfer case, an automatic limited-slip center differential, and a locking rear diff, equipping it for any demanding off-road endeavor.
Performance-wise, the 2024 model has an impressive array of statistics to support its legendary name. Boasting 8.7 inches of ground clearance and formidable approach, departure, and breakover angles of 31, 22, and 25 degrees respectively, the Land Cruiser is a beast prepared to tackle various challenges. Additionally, strategically placed underbody components ensure the SUV can navigate rocks and obstacles without compromising its rugged integrity.
To enhance its off-road capabilities, the Land Cruiser comes equipped with low-speed crawl control, assisting drivers in maneuvering through challenging obstacles. Downhill Assist Control is another handy feature, adeptly managing speed when descending steep grades, relieving drivers of unnecessary stress.
The Land Cruiser also flaunts an impressive tech suite, with the base model offering an 8.0-inch touchscreen display, while higher trims boast a generous 12.3-inch screen, both running the latest Toyota infotainment software. Additionally, the vehicle comes loaded with an abundance of standard active safety and driver assist features, including adaptive cruise control, lane centering, automatic emergency braking, lane departure prevention, and blind spot monitoring. This comprehensive package enhances safety and provides peace of mind, a welcome addition in a segment where self-sufficiency is often assumed.

2023 Toyota Land Cruiser USA, Prado, Price, Canada
After so many years, the iconic off-roader has finally been redesigned. The 2022 model came completely new and now looks and feels better than ever. The new model brings novelties and improvements in every aspect and, therefore, it’s easy to presume that the next year’s 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser will carry on without more important updates. We expect to see a familiar design, though minor updates are always possible, in terms of new standard and features, new color options and similar things.
However, the overall layout will remain the same. You may count on an excellent off-roader, which comes with a full load of standard and available off-road equipment. At this same time, this is a super-luxurious SUV, with a high-quality interior, refined powertrain and excellent ride quality.
As there are no significant changes to come, we are pretty sure that the 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.
2023 Toyota Land Cruiser Design
The 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser will represent the second production year of the current generation and, therefore, we are pretty sure it won’t bring any notable change. Instead, we count on the same design, which is now based on the company’s new TNGA-F platform. Most dimensions remained the same as in the previous generation, including the wheelbase, approach and departure angles etc. However, the new model is significantly lighter and also comes with improved structural rigidity.
The new generation comes with the updated adaptive variable suspension, which provides even better ride quality. The on-road ride quality is smoother than ever, while the off-road performance has been improved even more. All models come standard with four-wheel drive, center locking differential, hill descent control, selectable drive modes, terrain camera view and many other off-road features. The GR trim offers even more, including front and rear locking differentials, additional off-road modes and a full load of exclusive styling details.
Interior
On the inside, the 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser will continue in the same way, with a super-luxurious cabin. The new dashboard looks very modern, as it utilizes high-quality materials and offers excellent build quality. Furthermore, there is a generous list of tech features, including a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. The instrument cluster combines digital and analog elements, and such a combination looks very elegant.
As we’ve just mentioned, the new generation features pretty much the same dimensions as the previous model. In order to retain excellent off-road performances, the new model also features a relatively modest wheelbase for its segment and as a result, the third row of seats is very tight, while the cargo area isn’t impressive either. On the other hand, the first two rows are spacious and comfortable. The front seats are massive and very supportive, while the driving position is excellent.
2023 Toyota Land Cruiser Engines
The recent redesign also brought a completely new powertrain lineup. The V8 units were replaced with smaller and more efficient V6 engines. In markets like Australia, the main offer is a new 3.3-liter turbodiesel, which is good for about 304 horsepower (227kW) and 700 Nm of torque. On the other hand, there is also a new 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 petrol unit. This one is good for about 409 horsepower, and provides some pretty respectable performance. Both engines come coupled with a new 10-speed automatic transmission, which works excellent.
In some parts of the world, you can also find a good-old 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated V6 engine, with a max output of around 270 horsepower. That engine comes in pair with an older-generation 6-speed automatic.
Finally, some sources speculate about the new 2.4-liter turbo-four with 275 horsepower. Allegedly, this engine could come in some markets as the base choice. The officials are still quiet on this.
Features
Although certain novelties in this aspect are always possible, we are petty sure that most things are about to remain the same. Therefore, base models should come with goodies like a 12.3-infotainment screen, 7-inch instrument cluster digital screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 10-speaker audio system, 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 8-way power-adjustable passenger seat, heated and ventilated front seats, quad-zone climate control, wireless charging, head-up display and many more.
Considering that the list of standard equipment is very long, there aren’t many features left to be offered as options. Still, you can get goodies like a sunroof, memory seats, heated and ventilated second-row seats, a center cool box, power tailgate, sunroof etc.
2023 Toyota Land Cruiser Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser on sale sometime in the last quarter of the year, without bigger price changes. The current model starts at around AU$127,990 in Australia, while versions for the Middle East usually start at around AED 230.000. Key competitors are models like Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Infiniti QX80, Land Rover Defender etc.
Toyota Land Cruiser
