Роскошный Mercedes-Maybach GLS затмил другие «джи-эль-эсы», но вариант Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 всё же выделяется решёткой с вертикальными планками, «спортивными» воздухозаборниками, парой сдвоенных выпускных патрубков и колёсами диаметром 21–23 дюйма.

Битурбовоcьмёрка 4.0 серии M177 продолжает вытеснять из гаммы двигатель V8 5.5 с индексом M157. На стенде Даймлера в Лос-Анджелесе красуются три «заряженные» модификации, заменившие мотор, — это внедорожник Mercedes-AMG GLS 63, кроссовер GLE 63 и его версия GLE 63 S. «Эска» и GLS получили V8 4.0 с отдачей в 612 л.с., 850 Н•м, тогда как «просто» GLE 63 довольствуется версией на 571 л.с., 750 Н•м. При разгоне до сотни результаты такие: GLE 63 S — 3,8 с, GLE 63 — четыре секунды ровно, GLS 63 — 4,2 с. Опциональный пакет AMG Driver’s package повышает максималку с 250 до 280 км/ч.

Семиместный салон «джи-эль-эса» пестрит атрибутикой AMG. По умолчанию идёт отделка чёрной кожей Nappa, но можно выбирать из шести других вариантов по цвету и материалам. Для оформления приборки предусмотрено четыре темы: Modern Classic, Sport, Discreet, Supersport.

Во всех случаях к «восьмёрке» прилагается 48-вольтовый стартер-генератор EQ Boost (22 л.с., 250 Н•м), который «подкидывает дровишек» на старте или при обгоне. Общими для моделей также стали девятиступенчатый «автомат» AMG Speedshift TCT 9G, система полного привода AMG Performance 4Matic+, блокировка заднего дифференциала с электронным управлением и тормоза: с шестипоршневыми фиксированными суппортами спереди (диски на 400 мм), с однопоршневыми механизмами с плавающей скобой сзади (диаметр дисков 370 мм).

Паркетник GLE 63 S тоже легко узнать по «полосатой» решётке, «дышащему» переднему бамперу и паре двустволок на корме. Для «эски» стандартным стал размер колёс в 21 дюйм, а GLE 63 полагаются варианты диаметром 20–22 дюйма. Спортивную атмосферу внутри создают опять-таки аксессуары AMG.

По умолчанию вся троица оснащена пневмоподвеской AMG Ride Control+ с режимами Comfort, Sport и Sport+ (у «эски» четвёртый режим — Race, у GLS 63 — Individual). При скорости в 120 км/ч автомобиль прижимается к земле на 10 мм. Программы Trail и Sand, наоборот, приподнимают машину на 55 мм при 70 км/ч. За доплату будет предложена система Active Ride Control для активной стабилизации, повышающей комфорт на прямой и уменьшающей крены в поворотах. Цены и дата старта продаж не обозначены, но понятно, что речь о 2020 годе.

These are the ingredients for the bodyshell of the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé. The spaceframe consists largely of aluminium and weighs only 231 kilograms. An innovative architecture which is light, robust and extremely rigid in one. That is a prerequisite for the best possible lateral and longitudinal dynamics and maximum steering precision.
