В своём неизменном виде Land Rover Defender продержался на конвейере без малого 70 лет. И хотя культовый внедорожник фактически выпускался с 1983 по 2016-й, его историю принято отсчитывать с 1948 года, когда на свет появился Land Rover Series I. «Деф» второго поколения непохож ни на предшественника, ни на престарелого родственника. Теперь это современный автомобиль — не такой харизматичный и олдскульный, как раньше, зато под потолок набитый электроникой и передовыми технологиями. Пошло ли это ему на пользу, мы пока не знаем, но уже сейчас готовы рассказать всё о самой громкой премьере этого года.
Предшественник нынешнего «Дефендера», Land Rover Series I, родился в послевоенной Англии как временное решение финансовых проблем Rover Company. Недорогой и надёжный внедорожник понравился фермерам, бизнесменам и искателям приключений, и неожиданно для своих создателей, братьев Вилкс, стал очень популярным. Примитивная по нынешним меркам угловатая форма кузова была продиктована тогдашним состоянием английской промышленности и нежеланием Rover инвестировать в технологическую оснастку. Внешние панели изготовили из лёгкого алюминиево-магниевого сплава Birmabright, листы которого формовали вручную.
С минимальными изменениями первый внедорожник Land Rover шагнул в XXI век, но уже с шильдиком Defender. При этом сначала наименованием модели было цифровое обозначение длины колёсной базы в дюймах — Land Rover 90 и 110, а собственным именем она обзавелась только в начале 90-х, после появления Discovery. С годами Defender обрастал различными версиями, но принципиально не менялся. А к моменту очередного обновления в 2012-м уже было известно, что Land Rover ведёт работу над преемником — без полного пересмотра дизайна компания попросту не смогла бы вписаться в новые европейские нормы, касающиеся безопасности пешеходов.
Автомобиль из фильма о Бонде «007: Спектр» — это, пожалуй, квинтэссенция брутальности и невероятной харизмы Land Rover Defender. И, конечно, ни о какой безопасности для пешеходов тут и речи быть не может.
Последние 15 экземпляров «лампового» Land Rover Defender выехали из ворот завода компании в Солихалле 29 января 2016 года. Мы вот-вот должны были увидеть внедорожник следующего поколения, но в 2018-м Land Rover Classic неожиданно выпустил коллекционную версию Works V8 70th Edition с пятилитровой «восьмёркой» на 405 сил, автоматической трансмиссией и перешитым салоном со спортивными креслами Recaro. Первые шпионские фотографии прототипов нового «Дефендера» появились осенью 2018-го, и вот спустя почти год британцы полностью рассекретили преемника культового внедорожника. Теперь Defender — самый продвинутый автомобиль семейства Land Rover, этакое дитя цифровой эпохи, а не реликт, как прежде.
Последний экземпляр Land Rover Defender покидает сборочный цех в Солихалле под аплодисменты сотрудников. Вместе с ним уходит целая эпоха.
Внешность нового Land Rover Defender в большей степени основана на игре с классическими формами, хотя влияние концепта DC100 2011 года сложно не заметить. Сглаженные линии и срезанные сверху кольца ходовых огней придали облику внедорожника определенной мультяшности и сделали его похожим на очередной шоу-кар. Связь поколений дизайнеры подчеркнули с помощью коротких свесов, распашной задней двери с запасным колесом и фирменных окошек Alpine Light на крыше. По словам отвечающего за экстерьер «Лэнд Роверов» Массимо Фрашелла, «стилистика нового Defender — это манифест нынешней философии дизайна марки, лаконичной и одновременно сложной».
Характерное для «Дэфа» шасси с рамой лестничного типа и неразрезными мостами кануло в Лету. Ему на смену пришла конструкция с несущим кузовом, основанная на алюминиевом монококе D7x. Передняя подвеска — двухрычажная, задняя — многорычажка Integral Link с дополнительной вертикальной тягой, как у Discovery и Jaguar E-Pace. При этом внедорожник можно оборудовать как пассивными амортизаторами со стальными пружинами, так и адаптивной пневмоподвеской с регулировкой высоты дорожного просвета. Кузов Defender выдерживает до 6,5 тонны рывковой нагрузки, приложенной к буксировочным крюкам, а усиленные элементы подвески — до семи тонн.
Стандартный дорожный просвет Land Rover Defender 90 с пневмоподвеской — 216 миллиметров, с пружинной — 226. Клиренс 110-го — от 218 миллиметров. Во внедорожном режиме автомобиль с пневмостойками может приподняться ещё на 75 миллиметров — до 291 миллиметра. Для удобства посадки и загрузки предназначена система Elegant Arrival, которая опускает кузов на 50 миллиметров. Артикуляция подвески внедорожника составляет полметра; «Дефендер» может преодолевать 45-градусные боковые уклоны и подъёмы, форсировать брод глубиной 900 миллиметров, буксировать прицеп массой до 3500 килограммов (у машин для американского рынка этот показатель чуть выше — 3720 кг) и перевозить 168 килограммов груза на крыше (статическая нагрузка — 300 кг). Углы въезда и съезда составляют 38 и 40 градусов соответственно, рампы — 31 градус для Defender 90 и 28 для 110.
У предыдущего «Дефендера» дорожный просвет был 250 миллиметров. Внедорожник мог преодолевать полуметровые водные преграды; углы въезда и съезда составляли 48,7 и 35,6 градуса для модификации 110 и 47 и 47,1 для Defender 90.
Внедорожный арсенал «Дефендера» дополняет новейшее поколение системы Terrain Response, у которой теперь есть приставка Configurable (настраиваемая). Она позволяет с помощью центрального экрана блокировать межосевой и опциональный задний дифференциалы, а также настраивать чувствительность дроссельной заслонки, работу коробки передач, рулевого управления и антипробуксовочной системы — всего можно сохранить четыре индивидуальных профиля. Кроме того, доступен полностью автоматический режим, способный самостоятельно распознавать дорожные условия, и впервые в автомобилях Land Rover надстройка «Брод».
