ZF 8-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION The V8 powertrain is complemented by an advanced ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox with sport mode and quick-shift response, completing each gear change in 200 milliseconds.

UPDATED DRIVELINE Dual-speed transfer box with automatic torque biasing centre differential shifts up to 90% of torque to the front or rear axle as required.

ENHANCED CAPABILITY AND CONTROL A reconfigured suspension features improved springs and dampers. All-new 18 inch diamond-turned Sawtooth alloy wheels, all-terrain tyres and upgraded brakes provide additional driving confidence.

The Defender Works V8 70th Edition conversion was applied to no more than 150 vehicles, each sourced, assembled and meticulously refinished by specialist teams dedicated to creating Authentic Cars.

В этом году исполняется 65 лет компании «Land Rover». В честь этого юбилея англичане выпустили юбилейную серию легендарного Land Rover Defender 90. Это чистокровный внедорожник с неповторимым английским шармом, за который его ценят поклонники полноприводной техники. О знаменательной дате говорят специальные шильдики на кузове, и один из них — римская цифра LXV. Прямых конкурентов у внедорожника нет, разве что американский Джип Wrangler.

Салон юбилейного Land Rover Defender 90 скроен по лекалам 50-ти летней давности; это были времена, когда об удобстве, сидящего за рулем человека, задумывались не в первую очередь. Так что теснота на водительском месте – это, пожалуй, его единственный недостаток.

Обычные версии внедорожниека Land Rover Defender отделаны очень просто, если не сказать аскетично. Но для юбилейного Defender 90 британцы постарались. Ради такого события они установили сидения повышенной комфортности, которые обиты первоклассной кожей.

Чистокровные внедорожники и дизельные моторы – эти два понятия не могут встречаться по отдельности. В распоряжение юбилейного Land Rover Defender 90 попал дизельный двигатель рабочим объёмом 2,2 литра.

Главная добродетель этого мотора – его потрясающая тяговитость. С места на автомобиле можно трогаться, не касаясь педали акселератора; на малых оборотах Land Rover Defender 90 прет, как танк. Чуть прибавляешь газу, и машина бежит веселее.

Но рабочий диапазон у двигателя не слишком широкий, и поэтому на высоких оборотах он чуточку скисает; смысла раскручивать его до красной зоны тахометра нет никакого, быстрее от этого машина не поедет.

Впрочем, особо лихачить на Land Rover Defender 90 и не тянет, на высокой скорости он крайне не стабилен. И не удивительно, ведь скоростная магистраль не основная среда обитания этого ветерана.

По настоящему, Land Rover Defender 90 раскрывает свои качества вне асфальта. На грунте и на бездорожье он с легкостью проявляет все свои сильные стороны. Казавшаяся на трассе неуклюжая подвеска с аппетитом поглощает попадающие под колеса буераки.

Проходимость и вовсе вызывает восторг! Мало найдется преград, которые не будут по плечу Land Rover Defender 90. Причем, большинство из них он преодолеет без предварительной подготовки, а ведь у него ещё есть в запасе понижающая передача и блокировка центрального дифференциала.

The modified Defender 90 honors the Bond films’ 60th anniversary with a black and gold color treatment.

• The Land Rover Defender dons a black-and-gold livery to celebrate the 60th anniversary of James Bond films.
• Along with the commemorative design, this Defender 90 features a modified suspension and a fully integrated roll cage.
• This one-off Defender was driven by Mark Higgins–a stunt driver in four Bond films­–in the 2022 Bowler Defender Challenge rally race.

The automaker most often associated with James Bond is Aston Martin. However, Land Rovers have appeared in Bond films for almost 40 years, starting with Octopussy in 1983 and leading up to the most recent release of No Time to Die. To celebrate the film franchise’s 60th birthday, Land Rover built a one-off Defender 90 with a black and gold livery.

More Defender Details

Land Rover didn’t only build a special version of the Defender so it could don 007 graphics overlaid with a giant 60 on its doors and roof; the company also modified it for rally racing. Enhancements include a unique suspension setup with different springs and modified subframes. The body was fitted with a new rear spoiler, and the 18-inch wheels were wrapped with all-terrain tires. Inside, the Defender was equipped with a fully integrated roll cage for added safety. Under the hood, its standard 296-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four was paired with a sport exhaust system. Its engine and transmission also benefited from upgraded cooling components.

We’ve tested an unmodified Defender with the more powerful powertrain, the 395-hp turbo- and supercharged 3.0-liter inline-six, and the longer 110 wheelbase. It sprinted to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds and cleared the quarter-mile in 14.8 seconds at 94 mph.
