To celebrate this hardcore off-road machine/urban guerilla’s legacy, Land Rover released two special edition models in Australia, the ‘Adventure’ and the ‘Heritage’ paying homage to the Defenders much loved roots and generating a huge amount of hype and buying frenzy in the process.
Arguably the most collectable of the two, the Heritage Edition Defender was designed in the spirit of the original 1948 HUE166 Land Rover wearing Grasmere Green paintwork inspired by the original Post WWII surplus paints available at the time.
With 400 units built worldwide and limited to just 70 cars in both 90-inch and 110-inch wheel base guise for the Australian market, all Heritage Editions well and truly sold out within days of their release.
We are excited to bring to market the rarest of the special edition models is the 110-inch Land Rover Defender Heritage Edition.

Description of 1980 Land Rover Defender Station Wagon
The end of an era, after 67 years of making one of the most iconic off-roaders, Land Rover called time on the Defender, so closely linked in heart, body and soul to the original Series I. To mark the occasion, Land Rover launched the final Defender Heritage series. Limited to just 400, the last ever Land Rover, as we have known them, rolled off the production at 9.15am on the 29th January of this year, the 2,016,933rd Heritage Defender built at Solihull became the last true Land Rover.
Never has there been a car that has so captured the imagination of the world. Land Rovers have saved lives, won wars, delivered aid and hope, conveyed Kings and Queens and numerous Popes, ferried injured animals from the lowliest sheep to the proudest lion to safety. The Land Rover has conquered ravines, deserts and snow, broken records and won the hearts of millions.
Resplendent in its Grasmere Green paint, a close match to the first Land Rover, HUE 166 which left the factory in Sage Green.
This Heritage Edition has, as standard, an equipment list that’s a far cry from the original 1948 Land Rover. Heated seats! The only heated seats this consignor ever experienced in an early Land Rover was after a pair of Labradors had been asleep on them. The list goes on, as you would expect from a modern car, including Bluetooth, electric windows and heated front and rear screens. Subtle cues to the heritage of Land Rover, and its elder statesman, HUE 166, are dotted about the car, like the graphics on the wings and tags on the seats, just little reminders and a thank you.

EXTERIOR
Having covered just 557 miles from new, this Heritage Edition Defender presents in immaculate condition. Finished in an exclusive coat of Grasmere Green Metallic with contrasting white roof and silver hardware, the squared silhouette of this 110 perfectly captures the classic defender charm that made it such an icon over its nearly 40 year production run.
The thought behind the Heritage edition really becomes clear when delving into the finer details; the use of the original Land Rover logo on the bonnet and mud flaps, and the HUE 166 badge painted on the left front wing (referring to the registration of ‘Huey’) are both wonderful details that pays tribute to the oldest known land rover still in existence.
INTERIOR
The idea behind the Heritage Edition was to create the ultimate modern interpretation if the original Defender, and nowhere is that more clear than the interior. The design and layout is classic Land Rover; with folding rear seats, robust rubber matts and durable fabric seats for easy cleaning after loading up the car with muddy boots and pets, it still feels like a utilitarian workhorse.
Thankfully there are some modern refinements; with heated front seats, electric front windows and A/C now making the interior a perfectly comfortable place to be. Combined with a much higher standard of fit and finish the Heritage Edition sufferers far less from the typical rattles and shakes synonymous with classic Land Rovers.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Another key detail of this Defender is the engine, with Land Rover opting to fit a 4 Cylinder Turbo Diesel unit instead of the usual 5 cylinder. Coincidentally the original Land Rover also had a 4 cylinder engine a further salute (although probably not intentional) to the car’s past
Of course straight line speed was never the defenders strong point, with a top speed of 90 mph but paired to a low range gearbox with locking differentials it can still tackle the most rugged of terrains without breaking a sweat.
