Jeep grand cherokee overland 2010
About a year ago, we purchased a new Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland from the Gold Coast Jeep dealership which is part of Frizelle’s Sunshine Automotive Group.
We were very happy with the vehicle and the service provided by the dealer sales team, but the after sales service support provided by the Gold Coast Jeep dealership has really let us down.
During the purchase, we advised the sales person that we were purchasing a Jeep for towing our caravan and that we were purchasing a brand new vehicle for reliability reasons because we were also dropp
. Read more ing down to one vehicle so needed the assurance of the reliability we would expect to get with the purchase of a new vehicle. The sales person assured us that in the unlikely event of a breakdown and because of our commitment to convert from another make to a Jeep, Gold Coast Jeep and Frizelle’s Sunshine would make sure that we would never be without a vehicle if the need arises. Well, what an empty promise that turned out to be! Our vehicle broke down with less than 7,500km on the clock and we were just left for 9 days with no means of transport! So what happened?

Purchased a new Jeep. Car was not checked prior to delivery and would not start soon after. Jeep rectified some issues on return but once again not thoroughly. Pathetic service

Finally came up with the goods!
Bought the 2015 Grand Cherokee Overland from a car dealership when it was only 3 years old. It has always been serviced at the required intervals. It’s kept immaculate and only has 75,000klm. The Uconnect radio apparently needs replacement due to a defect, quoted $5500. Jeep are saying bad luck because we are not the original owner and it wasn’t serviced through Jeep and 2 years out of warranty. How does that make a difference to a radio. I invite Jeep to make good their fault.
Just the start
6 months no radio or controls.
. Read more with persistence and speaking with the correct department, they reviewed our request and approved the replacement radio at no cost. It took a little over 6 weeks for the part to arrive but has now been installed by Jeep and working fine.
Purchased in Feb 2018 for $50,000 .

Pretty much perfect
This in my second Jeep with the first being a 2009 Patriot that stayed in the family for over 10 years (and 135k) with relatively few problems. I bought my 2014 petrol 3.6l Overland with 25k on the clock and it now has 80k after 3 years of ownership. I had the a/c condenser replaced recently as the pipe cracked and this appears to be a common problem. It cost under $1000 all up which wasn’t unreasonable. Other than that I’ve had regular servicing (non-Jeep) which is about $300 a pop and two new tyres. Very comfortable car which returns less than 8l/100km on a run. The 8spd ZF gearbox is as smooth as they come and gets the most out of the Pentastar engine.

Faulty paintwork that Jeep say could have happened during travel. Yes but it was the cars maiden voyage. Not good enough in my book. I will never buy another one.

Beware!
2012 diesel with 175 k on the clock. History has been water pump failure at 84k cost $2100. New battery at 8 years old followed by new alternator total $1,200. Recent trip towing 2800kg van ended up with transmission failure and subsequent repair bill of $5,000. Repair man recommended by RAC says I am lucky to get the kilometres out of the transmission that I have, he has seen many failing at under 100,000 kms. Jeep would not repair but would replace at cost of $7,200.
Not really happy with reliability to date and total disinterest from FCA. I
. Read more will need to assess car carefully once transmission repair completed as to whether I trust the car again for towing etc. These cars are obviously not built for long term reliability. On recent holiday, the local RAC call out guy had three jeeps in his yard, two with transmissions and one overheated.
Leather seat issue
Jeep are the worst company for customer service in the world, The head office In Australia doesn’t start till 10am WT. I have nothing but issues with Jeep and will NEVER Buy a another Jeep EVER. Resale value is so bad you better off putting the car for scrap metal. Any one looking at buying a Jeep DON’T save your money and headache.

An Audi with a Jeep Badge
Have completed 20k in my My19 GC and what a great motor vehicle . Still learning all the digital gadgets. Drove Brisbane to Tasmania and return completed the journey in great comfort. Best value for money in its category . Great interior design and finish . Air suspension failed at 1500klms but part replaced by FCA no hassle and provided free hire vehicle. Yet to tow a van or serious 4wd work but has met my expectations and more on the tarmac Very happy after being doubtful based on bad reviews. Vehicle is used every day for two people or just

Reversing The Trailer
Hi, newbie pom from the UK, I’ve been a caravanner for many years, The Grand will be my third tow car, I had an ML270. and an 02 cherokee grand 2.7. All Diesel. Here’s the thing. The NEW overland is an expensive SUV. I use it for my work and leisure, and tow a twin axle Superstorm Caravan. It was a REAL shock when for the first time having hitched up and arrived at the venue to discover that reversing this lady was not going to be simple. Its rare to get a drive in space, and so the majority of set downs happen after multipoint maneuvers into
. Read more your parking bay. Normally I would achieve that selecting low range, and reverse on just about tickover or the gentlest of throttle. This new Grand is a whole NEW ball game, it is completely different experience, and, in my opinion can be dangerous. The throttle is fly by wire, Im not sure is this is contributory, but the issue is that the power train take up to wheel movement requires continuous blipping of the throttle to get transition from reves to movement,but, the revs keep climbing and so it off throttle and brake to prevent te take up too quick. It’s not that clever reversing the car into a tight spot either, even worse if you have a gradianet or up kerb. Dealers have looked, and agree but FCA state its characteristic. Trouble is, this is a car competing with BMW, Audi and Range Rover. Its certainly got a terrific launch from the lights, but you don’t drive backwards in quite the same way it drives forwards. The transition from revs to torque is somehow wrong. What Else, if that’s not enough, some joker has sealed up the rear window. It used to open, what a bonus that was, now the electric boot wants either to be open or shut. Roof rails, my roof ger no long fits and there are no rail slots for ties. Running lights, how come there is no option for running lights of along with tail lights on?. Puddle lights , great idea but, unless they are on the underside of the door, when you open the door the mirror mounted light suddenly vanishes out 90 degrees away from the puddle area. LAST road tax, when purchase the tax was £280, now its £500 due to the emissions reveal. This is not progress peeps, its lost a portion of its utilitarian use. and now due to the FCA finance pack I’m stuck with it for another 3 years. If Id wanted a car that just went well and did no utility stuff I would have opted for the BMW X. Jimbo
