2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus: Interior, Review, Price
The Jeep Cherokee belongs to a compact SUV class which we love because of its good off-road capabilities, especially in the Trailhawk version, cozy cabin, and modern infotainment features. The 2019 model year will finally receive an eagerly expected redesign. So, the new version will get most of the changes in exterior design, particularly on the front fascia. We will also see upgrades inside the cabin with new materials and improved cargo space. There is also a new engine in the offer. It is available in Latitude, Latitude Plus, Limited, Overland, and Trailhawk trim levels. However, this time we will talk about the new 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus.
Engine and performance of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus
Under the hood of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus is placed the same unit which powers the base Latitude model but also the Limited trim with front-wheel drive system. It is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder which is able to make 180 horses and 171 pound-feet of torque. This unit pairs with a 9-speed automatic transmission. With front-wheel drive system, this engine gets 22 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Connected to all-wheel drive layout, it is rated at 21/29 mpg in the city/highway.
On the other hand, the higher trim levels such as Overland and Trailhawk will be powered by a 3.2-liter V-6 as standard. This engine has the output of 271 horsepower and 239 pound-feet of torque. It also works with a 9-speed automatic. The front-wheel drive version gets 20/29 mpg while the AWD variant is rated at 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. The Trailhawk model is estimated to be 18/24 mpg.
Furthermore, there is also a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged unit. This powertrain can deliver 270 horses and 29lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a 9-speed automatic also. As for the fuel efficiency, it is rated at 23/31 mpg with FWD. With all-wheel drive it is rated at 21/29 mpg while the Trailhawk version gets 20/26 mpg in the city/highway drive. However, this engine will be available for all the versions except the Latitude model.
As well, for those who choose an all-wheel drive system, they get the base Active Drive I system and the Active Drive II is available for all the versions but the Latitude. The base 4-cylinder version can tow up to 2,000 pounds, the turbocharged 2.4-liter up to 4,000 pounds, and the Trailhawk model around 4,500 pounds. Furthermore, all the engines come with stop/start.
Exterior and interior of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus
As for the external appearance, the 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus so as all the versions in the lineup will finally get a much-needed redesign. The whole design will now be similar to the one of the Jeep Compass and Jeep Grand Cherokee. And most of the changes will be visible on the front fascia. So, the newest Cherokee will feature a new nose, and revised LED headlamps with daytime running lights. The grille will remain almost the same and will have the same seven-slot design and will be angular. Furthermore, the fog lights will now be placed in the lower corners of the front end. On the rear fascia, there will be restyled tail lamps and the whole appearance will be cleaner. The Trailhawk version will feature more pronounced bumper which will be blacked-out.
Inside the cabin, the 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus will remain simple and stylish but will get a host of upgrades. We will notice more refined and soft-touch materials and more room for the storage. The dashboard will be revised also and will feature a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment system and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Speaking of the space, the front seats are cozy enough and provide good room. The rear-seat passengers will also receive a sufficient head and leg room. Behind the rear seats, there is a space of 24.6 cubic feet. However, if you fold them down, you get the cargo room of 54.9 cubes.
Equipment
All the models come standard with roof rails, 17-inch steel wheels, cloth upholstery, air conditioning, audio system with 6 speakers, a USB port, a six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, Bluetooth, LED headlamps, and so on. The 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus will add cloth and vinyl upholstery, alloy wheels, cruise control, additional USB ports, power eight-way driver’s seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless ignition, and satellite radio. The higher trims will add blind-spot monitors, dual-zone climate control, leather, Alpine audio with nine speakers and many others.
