2020 Ford Edge II 2.0 AT Titanium (250 Hp) specs

The Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) is an American multinational corporation and the world’s fourth largest automaker based on worldwide vehicle sales, following Toyota, General Motors, and Volkswagen. Based in Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, the automaker was founded by Henry Ford and incorporated on June 16, 1903. In addition to the Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury brands, Ford also owns Volvo Cars of Sweden, and a small stake in Mazda of Japan and Aston Martin of England. Ford’s former UK subsidiaries Jaguar and Land Rover were sold to Tata Motors of India in March 2008.

In 2007, Ford fell from the second-ranked automaker to the third-ranked automaker in US sales for the first time in 56 years, behind General Motors and Toyota. Based on 2007 global sales, Ford fell to the fourth-ranked spot behind Volkswagen. Ford is the seventh-ranked overall American-based company in the 2007 Fortune 500 list, based on global revenues in 2007 of $172.5 billion. In 2007, Ford produced 6.553 million automobiles and employed about 245,000 employees at around 100 plants and facilities worldwide. Also in 2007, Ford received more initial quality survey awards from J. D. Power and Associates than any other automaker. Five of Ford’s vehicles ranked at the top of their categories and fourteen vehicles ranked in the top three.

2020 Ford Edge Titanium Review: Is It Worth $38,000?

While other brands like Chevy and KIA are going for edgier designs with bolder curves and distinct shapes, Ford has stuck by its winning formula of solid, strong-looking, and subtly stylish cars. For 2020 it gave us a new Edge Titanium; keeping with this ethos on the outside the interior is packed with satisfying technology and driveability underneath.

Solid Aesthetic With Universal Appeal:

From the exterior, the 2020 Ford Edge Titanium looks mostly like you’d expect a Ford crossover to look. It features nice long lines, pleasing symmetry, and a reassuring, muscular frame. Some of the finer details on the Titanium model include 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, body-color cladding with chrome inserts, and body-color bumpers with more chrome. It certainly lives up to the stunningly metallic persona that the Titanium name creates.

Quiet On The Highway — Powerful Under The Hood:

One thing you’re sure to love on the Edge Titanium is how quiet the interior remains at any speed. It makes for a great family road trip vehicle with a quiet, comfortable cabin sure to keep passengers happy.

The seats are surprisingly comfortable and supportive plus they feature a substantial amount of side bolstering ensuring you’ll stay snug in your seat around tight corners.

The 2020 Edge Titanium is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 making 250 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. The engine produces enough power to make the Edge feel competent for everyday driving tasks while offering a respectable fuel efficiency of 21 City & 28 Hwy. FWD is standard, but AWD is an option. The 8-speed automatic transmission is a bit slow to respond, and one of the weaker points of the Edge from a driving dynamics standpoint.

Agile Handling:

When you’re on the road, you’ll undoubtedly sense the steering and handling precision plus the effectiveness of the suspension. You’ll feel in control of every single movement of the vehicle, even when traversing a poorly maintained or crumbling road surface. From what I’ve experienced, the Edge can also handle itself in rougher conditions. The sharp turn-in and well-balanced suspension make for a steady and comfortable experience even when you’re carving a canyon or two.

Loaded With Technology:

While the exterior doesn’t present any dramatic exchange from expectation on a Ford model, the technology package is a pretty decent upgrade from previous models. Arguably the best thing about the 2020 Edge is that every trim level comes with a great suite of features as standard —- Ford Co-Pilot360, FordPass Connect with 4G hotspot, Post-Collision Braking, and a rotary dial gear shifter. From top-level-only to model-wide standard —- all this comes with any trim you choose.

Augments your technology suite with optional advanced parking assistance, steering assist, adaptive cruise control, and wireless phone charging. You can also get Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Waze, and Ford+Alexa in there if you need those.

Downside — Interior:

There’s a lot to like about the 2020 Edge Titanium, but the interior is a bit of a letdown, with a plain design, lacking a premium feel. For me, even with the new color options like dark red/brown Brunello with the red brick stitching, the interior still feels, on the whole, a little bit cheap and low-end. For a car that generally tries to look extremely premium from the outside, and in the technology package that it offers, the delivery on a premium quality interior is somewhat lacking.

2020 Ford Edge Titanium – A Solid Offering:

After testing it, I conclude that this is the kind of car that suits anyone and everyone who wants a midsized crossover. Ford has created a solid amalgamation of design and utility, with sufficient power and excellent handling. Even with the bland interior, the 2020 Ford Edge remains a good buy in the segment at a competitive price point. The 2020 Edge starts at $31,100.
