Wald’s Toyota Hilux Black Bison Edition Looks Like It Could Eat A Ford Ranger For Breakfast

Leave it to Wald International to find a way to make the Toyota Hilux look like something Thanos would drive. Dubbed the Sports Line Black Bison Edition, this Hilux is prepped for both rugged terrain, as well as an Instagram-worthy photo shoot.

Wald’s Hilux looks properly dark and menacing, thanks to bumper to bumper mods such as the wider fenders, massive mud-terrain tires, hood scoop cover and more.

The widebody kit alone adds an extra 55 mm (2.16 inches) in width, while the additional LED lights (including those on the front roof spoiler), add more road presence and of course better lighting when the sun goes down.

Other features include the rear roof wing, custom front bumper, bug guard for the hood, rear tailgate spoiler and the rear spats, plus the tri-pipe side exhaust system for good measure. The Jarret 1PC wheels meanwhile can be had in 20-inches if you leave the fenders as they are, or 22-inches if you go with the fender extensions, as seen here.

The LED lights on the front roof spoiler feature a familiar design, as seen on other Wald-tuned products such as the Suzuki Jimny Black Bison, unveiled last year.

As for whether or not this is the most aggressive-looking 8th generation Hilux we’ve ever seen, we’re inclined to say yes. Honorary mentions would go to this TRD-tuned Hilux, as well as the Rugged X version, which we even reviewed for you Down Under. The latter we reckon might even give this Black Bison variant a run for its money in terms of wading depth.

Доработанный пикап выглядит чрезвычайно угрожающе благодаря расширенным крыльям, новому переднему бамперу и огромному воздухозаборнику на капоту. Агрессивный обвес делает пикап на 55 мм шире, чем стандартная модель.

Другие внешние модификации включают в себя светодиодные фонари над лобовым стеклом, спойлер над задним бортом и боковую выхлопную систему с тремя патрубками. Пикап опирается на землю посредством 20-дюймовых колес Jarret 1PC (если покупатель выбрал стандартные крылья) или 22-дюймовых колес (если установлены расширенные колесные арки).

Wald International не раскрывает, были ли сделаны какие-либо модификации под капотом, а это означает, что Black Bison Edition, вероятно, не получил никаких технических изменений по сравнению с серийными Hilux.

В России Toyota Hilux можно купить с 2,4- или 2,8-литровым дизелем мощностью 150 и 177 л.с., соответственно. Цены на стандартные модели начинаются с 2 306 000 рублей за вариант с 2,4-литровым мотором и механической коробкой передач. Более мощная версия доступна только с автоматической трансмиссией, а цены стартуют с отметки в 2 606 000 рублей.

This is the Ford Ranger Raptor rival Toyota needs to build.

The Toyota Hilux has a long-standing reputation for being one of the toughest trucks on the planet. It even famously survived being crushed by a building on Top Gear. Toyota is also considering building a more hardcore version of the Hilux to rival the Ford Ranger Raptor, but this has yet to happen.

To ease the wait, Japanese tuner Wald International has kitted out the Toyota Hilux with a range of hardcore upgrades. Put simply, the Toyota Hilux Black Bison Edition is an absolute beast that will give the Ford Ranger nightmares.

Dubbed the Sports Line Black Bison Edition, the customized Toyota Hilux looks extremely menacing thanks to its wider fenders, new front bumper, and a huge hood scoop cover, while an aggressive body kit makes the pickup truck 2.16 inches wider than the standard model. It looks absolutely menacing.

Other exterior modifications include a roof spoiler with fitted LED lights for extra visibility, a rear tailgate spoiler, and a side exhaust system with three tips. The custom pickup rides on 20-inch Jarret 1PC wheels with the standard fenders, or a set of 22-inch wheels if the fender extensions are fitted, wrapped in massive off-road tires to improve the truck’s capability.

Widebody Toyota Hilux “Sports Line Black Bison Edition” Is All Show, No Go

As we wait for the 2024 Hilux to transition to an all-new platform with electrified powertrains, the current generation soldiers on with little in the way of newities. The tuning scene, however, isn’t sitting still.

We’ve been talking about Wald International and the Black Bison Edition for more than 10 years now, and the Japanese aftermarket company is much obliged to apply the same upgrades to the mid-size pickup truck too.

And then some! Officially titled “Sports Line Black Bison Edition,” this iteration of the Hilux is 2.16 inches wider than stock thanks to screw-on fender flares and ginormous tires measuring 22 inches in diameter. The off-road rubber wraps around Jarret 1PC wheels that go up to 24 inches if you’re looking to upgrade the Land Cruiser Prado, Porsche Cayenne, and other larger SUVs.

The 55-millimeter wider truck further benefits from larger air intakes that were apparently stylized after Mercedes- AMG , LED strips neatly integrated into those intakes and on the roof, black upper and lower grilles, underbody armor, hood scoops that look a bit ricey, a tailgate spoiler, a painted bed, garnishing for the rear bumper, branded side steps, and no fewer than six exhaust tips.

“Woah! Three exhaust outlets on each side of the truck must mean there’s a V8 monster under the hood, right?” As the headline implies, that’s not the specialty of Wald International. Depending on the market, the Hilux comes with a 2.8-liter turbo diesel that cranks out 174 horsepower or a 2.4-liter lump.

This thing may look like it eats the Ford Ranger Raptor and Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 for breakfast, yet the Black Bison can’t hold a candle to those two in a straight line or off the beaten path.

Please, don’t even ask about the price. If you insist, care to guess how much it costs to purchase one of those three-exit finishers? The stainless-steel option is 228,000 yen while the black finish costs 248,000 yen, translating to $2,115 to $2,300 at current exchange rates.

Toyota Hilux is one of the most sought-after pick-up trucks across the world and has been able to register equally good sales when compared to the other competitors like Ford Ranger. The muscular and rugged profile of the truck makes it a strong contender for modification with a powerful engine capable of offering an equally potential performance. Wald International, a modification shop in Japan has recently modified the Toyota Hilux and christened it as Hilux Black Bison Edition. Inspired from the outlook of the Ford Ranger, the modified Hilux has been equipped with an equally sturdy profile while the overall black colour scheme makes it look nothing short of a beast. Adding to the aggressive stance of the pickup truck is the sturdy glossy black front bumper. The modified truck is not only revised to offer a bolder stance but at the same time is capable of conquering every rough terrain. The wider body kit offered to the Toyota Hilux imparts it with a wider set of front fenders which adds to the stylish outlook and at the same time offers an elongated look to the pickup truck that now gets 55mm of increased width. The 22-inch Jattet alloy wheels are a treat for the eyes. The modifiers have further equipped the Toyota Hilux Black Bison Edition with a hood scoop cover in addition to offering wider off-road tyres and spoiler lights mounted on the roof. The auxiliary lights at the front of the modified truck make it look straight out of an action sequence. The three funnel exhaust system at the rear and the tailgate spoiler further adds to the exclusivity of the truck.
