2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee: Changes, Specs, Inline-Six

The new generation of the legendary SUV has just been released and with all the improvements it has brought, it’s pretty much for sure that the new model will remain in production for a long time. However, it looks like the first update could come already in the next year, with the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. From what we know so far, the popular mid-size SUV will get the company’s new inline-six engine, which will replace the current V8 engine. The rest of the design, though, will remain the same.

Therefore, what we expect from the next year’s model is improved performance and efficiency. The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee will continue to deliver a high-quality interior, spacious cabin, composed handling, strong off-road performance etc. On the other hand, things like small cargo areas and the high starting price will remain some of the key drawbacks.

Considering the possible updates, we presume that the next year’s model could arrive a little bit earlier than usual, though still within the second half of the year.

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Design

Considering that the current generation is still very fresh, we don’t believe that the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee could bring bigger changes in terms of the overall design. The new generation has brought a lot of improvements over the previous model, starting from a massive weight reduction, thanks to the new Giorgio platform, which also provides far more engaging handling. At the same time, the off-road performance remained at a super high level. You can opt for all-wheel drive, various drive modes, limited-slip differential etc.

The same thing is with the styling. The new design looks very attractive, so there is no need for bigger updates at this point. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see goodies like new color options and similar things.

Interior

The same thing is with interior design. This SUV features pretty impressively interior quality, thanks to the use of quality materials and a lot of attention to detail. We also like the aesthetics, which combine modern tech features with classic styling elements. Finally, the list of standard and available equipment is also pretty long, which is another thing that has a big impact on the overall cabin appeal.

Besides great quality, this SUV also offers plenty of passenger space. The standard model comes with two very spacious rows of seats, while you can also opt for the Grand Cherokee L, which features stretched wheelbase and adds a third row of seats, which also offers a decent passenger room.

On the other hand, the cargo area isn’t all that generous. You may count on about 37.7 feet of space behind the second row and 70.8 cubic feet of the total cargo volume, which is notably less compared to rivals like Toyota Highlander and, especially, Honda Pilot.

Features

With yearly updates, it’s always possible to see novelties in terms of standard and available equipment. Still, we don’t believe that the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee could come with too many changes compared to the current model. Therefore, base models should come with goodies like a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8.4-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a six-speaker audio system, USB ports, Bluetooth, dual-zone automatic climate control and push-button start.

Among available features, expect to find goodies like a 10.1-inch touch screen, a 10.25-inch passenger-side touch screen, navigation, wireless device charging, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system, HD Radio, satellite radio, a rear-seat entertainment system, quad-zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof and remote start.

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Engines

One of the biggest novelties for the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee should be the new engine. Allegedly, the current V8 will be replaced with a brand-new 3.0-liter inline-six, nicknamed Hurricane. We expect to see this engine in two output variants. The base version, which will replace the current 5.7-liter V8, is expected to feature a max output of around 420 horsepower. However, we also expect to see a high-performance version, with a max output of around 500 horsepower.

On the other hand, base models should carry on with a familiar 3.6-liter V6, which puts out 293 horsepower. Finally, count on the recently-introduced hybrid powertrain, which is based on a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine and features a combined output of 375 horsepower.

All engines will come coupled with 8-speed automatic transmission.

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Release Date and Price

We expect to see the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee sometime in the second half of 2023, with a starting price of around 40.000 dollars.

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Review: Trackhawk, Grand Cherokee L, 4xe Hybrid

The flagship SUV is coming without changes in the next year or two. The company launched the new generation in 2021. For this year, the FCA saved the release of the hybrid model called 4xe. So, there are no too many things that can be added to the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The SUV already comes with the most powerful engine in the segment. The lineup is very wide and numerous options are available, from engine range, trim levels, seating layouts, to paintjobs.

With the arrival of the hybrid powertrain, we don’t know what else the new 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee could offer. Still, a few fixes should take care of minor downsides. For example, passengers in the back will cry for more space. The visibility from the driver’s bucket is not as good as fans expected to be. We love the Uconnect 5 infotainment system and its combination of modern and classical approaches. Nevertheless, the system can be slow sometimes. We can’t say the fuel economy is a downside since the big vehicle in the combination with a powerful engine must consume a lot of gas.

Engines and Specs

There are six drivetrain options for the mid-size three-row SUV. Everything starts with a 3.6-liter V6 mill and 295 hp. The company doesn’t want to offer the big rig with a turbo-four engine. A V6 sends power to the rear wheels or all four corners, per the buyer’s choice.

A 5.7-liter mill is a serious upgrade that will make the system produce 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. But, that is not all, since the 2024 Grand Cherokee SRT is going to use a 6.4-liter Hemi V8. The maximum power output of this unit is 475 hp. Fans looking for those big engines must accept a very low gas mileage.

A diesel engine is questionable for the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The FCA is still using a 3.0-liter V6. It can deliver 260 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque and fits perfectly to the lineup of the mid-size SUV. As the matter of fact, the best combo is if you pair a turbodiesel and some of the off-road packages the vehicle is about to offer.

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

The SUV was the most powerful factory configuration for many years. A 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, also called Hellcat, was producing 707 hp. Well, it is still there to throw out the same amount of power. But, the company made it available for other vehicles. On the Dodge Durango, the same powerplant delivers 710 hp. Well, fans of the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk won’t cry too much about it. Besides the engine, there are numerous other additions that make this setup a unique SUV in the market. The mileage is the worst nightmare. The system returns only 11/17 mpg, and it doesn’t seem to become too better.

What is 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe?

The 4xe badge and configuration debuted on the Wrangler SUV. Of course, the company carried over the system to similar vehicles, including the Ram 1500 truck and 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. A 2.0-liter turbo-four engine is a base upgraded by two electric motors. Together, they can produce375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. An 8-pace automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive are standard. The fuel economy climbs to 23 mpg and the SUV can go by using only the electric power. In that case, the range is 26 miles. The next step in evolution is complete electrification. But, it is going to happen beyond the 2024 season.

Packages and Highlights

The SUV offers further choices. If you selected a powertrain and a drive system, the next step is the right package. The lineup stretches from the entry-level Laredo, which is priced at just under $39,000, to Trackhawk, valued nearly $90,000. Also, depending on the trim level, you can select a two-row layout. A three-row configuration is standard. However, the room at the back seats is a bit tight. Trailhawk is one of the best options if you plan to spend time off the road. A 4×4 is the only option here. A three-row model is out as the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, to make the choice easier. It is also a $2,000 save if you pick a 2-row SUV. You can spend that to get a four-wheel drive.

Summit is the top of the lineup version with a standard engine lineup, which can be upgraded with the Reserve package. The 4xe and Trackhawk are usually considered as models separated from the rest of the squad. With reason, since those packages are using special features and options. In the previous season, the SUV had a lot more packages. We believe the company will expand the lineup as part of the update. The 4xe model won’t be under $65,000.

Американский производитель Jeep представил новую версию своего внедорожника Grand Cherokee 2024 в специальном исполнении Anniversary Edition. Сообщается, что от классической версии оно отличается слегка доработанным дизайном кузова, а также 20-дюймовым «литьем» черного цвета.

Сейчас специальная версия американского внедорожника уже официально поступила на рынок, где базовая комплектация оценивается в 40 130 долларов, что составляет примерно 3,95 млн рублей по текущему курсу (фото: Jeep).

Интересно, что технически Grand Cherokee вообще не изменился. В его подкапотном пространстве расположилась уже знакомая V-образная «шестерка» на 3,6 литра. Ее отдача составляет 293 л.с. Также в моторной линейке присутствует и гибридная система с суммарной мощностью в 375 «лошадей».
