- 4 Big Differences Between 2020 Toyota RAV4 Limited AWD and Limited Hybrid
2020 Toyota Rav4 Specs, Hybrid, LE and Limited Grades
The Toyota Rav4 crossover is heading into a new, fifth generation. A new series of the compact model is coming late this year as the 2019 year vehicle. It leaves room and time for designers to prepare the first update – 2020 Toyota Rav4. With the new model on the way, we won’t see big changes for the first edition after the new generation arrives. Small cosmetic updates, possible limited edition and special model, and minor modifications of the hybrid system are some of the options. Since all eyes are on the 2019 Rav4, there is still no big interest in 2020 crossover. But, as soon as the new vehicle enters the market, fans will mule for missing features and systems.
The crossover is the best-selling vehicle in its family. The compact class just exploded recently and Toyota is one of the companies that use all advantages of the expansion. Well, the entire SUV and crossover industry is growing. That is why we are seeing more and more of these vehicles, new classes and subclasses. Predecessors of the 2020 Toyota Rav4 are one of the first crossovers that made a breakthrough. Now, the upcoming model and many others are enjoying the success of this kind of cars.
New 2020 Toyota Rav4 Concept
The redesign of the upcoming 2019 model will bring changes to the 2020 Toyota Rav4. Changes are not going to be big. But, the first update edition is going to make minor cosmetic and interior modifications. Besides that, no big things are on the way.
Rav4 has a new aggressive look. From what we saw in New York at Auto Show, designers had a lot of work. They crafted a futuristic crossover with a lot of updates. The new Toyota Rav4 2020 model will ride on a new platform. The company is now using a TNGA architecture for its compact vehicle. The crossover is now lower and shorter. However, the upcoming model is not losing in off-road capabilities. Contrary, the new Rav4 is even boosting the performance in difficult terrains.
Interior
A new dashboard is the highlight of the interior. The crossover is comfortable and pretty spacious for its exterior dimensions. A perfect seating layout offers five spots. There is also enough room in a storage area which could be increased by folding rear seats. At the center of the control panel is a big 7-inch touchscreen display. Higher trim levels, such as 2020 Toyota Rav4 Limited, will offer even the larger device. Entune infotainment system is going to offer Apple CarPlay services, but sadly, not the Android Auto. Toyota is trying to make it up by adding Amazon Alexa system. Under the big screen are most of command buttons and knobs, including drive mode selection and climate control. The steering wheel also holds some of them.
2020 Toyota Rav4 Engine Horsepower and Specs
Under the hood of the 2020 Toyota Rav4 is a 2.5-liter engine. That is the same unit used in the previous generation. However, engineers will tune it to deliver more power and better fuel economy at the same time. Although details are still unavailable, we believe the new Toyota Rav4 2020 model will be able to create more than 180 engine horsepower. The specs sheet gets a boost for torque output as well.
Nevertheless, the main improvement comes from a new all-wheel drive. The main part of it is the torque vectoring system. This one is not going to be available for the base crossover. Well, the front-wheel drive remains the mode for standard 2020 Toyota Rav4 LE offer.
2020 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid
Like the base crossover, the 2020 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid is also using the same setup as before. Again, the base for this kind of drivetrain is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine. It pairs an electric motor that maximizes engine horsepower. The new hybrid, as its conventional sibling, is going to offer more. Extra engine horsepower will make Toyota Rav4 2020 go above 200 hp total. The most important boost is for fuel economy which will reach 35 mpg in city drive. On highways, the crossover will return the same mileage with both gasoline or hybrid versions.
2020 Toyota Rav4 Limited, LE, Adventure, HSE HV Grades Confirmed
Rav4 is currently offering 10 different setups. We can separate them for standard and hybrid drivetrains. However, trim levels are one of the advantages of the Japanese carmaker. The new 2020 Rav4 is going to be more capable for the off-road drive. However, it is not getting a TRD package, which Toyota adds to its big vehicles, such as 4Runner SUV. Instead, the 2020 Toyota Rav4 Adventure Grade will offer everything the company tried to achieve with Trail Edition. This was a special vehicle upgraded for a better off-road drive. Now, the Rav4 Adventure will be capable to deliver a joy on and off the asphalt.
But, lets start from the base model. This spot is again reserved for 2020 Toyota Rav4 LE. Besides these two, the company already unveiled some features of the Limited model. Everything is larger there – inside it is an 8-inch screen, outside 19-inch wheels. Finally, Toyota is bringing the sportiest model of all. The 2020 Toyota Rav4 HSE HV will get the special suspension tuning. If you are looking for the crossover with the most power and the best fuel economy rating, wait for HSE HV to arrive. Well, it will cost more than other Rav4 models as well.
When Does 2020 Toyota Rav4 Come Out?
The next-gen 2019 Rav4 is still not in salons. The company is keeping it for the winter. Toyota is going to start the development of the new 2020 year model after first feedbacks. The want to hear impressions about the new crossover before they start to fix possible issues. Besides that, special trim levels could be on the way for 2020 Toyota Rav4 update. So, we can’t say with confidence when is 2020 Toyota Rav4 coming out. But, if we have to predict, it should happen late next year.
The new 2020 Toyota Rav4 LE will cost around $25,000. Its hybrid variant, which arrives a couple of months later, is valued $3,000 more. This is not a big change compared to the outgoing generation. Even the Limited Edition of the Toyota Rav4 2020 model is not going too far away. It is more expensive though, but the price gap is under $7,000. Currently, Rav4 Platinum is the most expensive version. The premium model is packed with a lot of features we won’t find on other trim levels, and it could reach $40,000 price tag.

4 Big Differences Between 2020 Toyota RAV4 Limited AWD and Limited Hybrid
See important differences between 2020 RAV4 Limited Hybrid and Limited AWD gasoline models so you can choose the best one for you and your family.
One of the most important decisions you may make with your next SUV purchase is whether to choose one that is gasoline-powered or one that is a hybrid. This is especially true if you are considering a 2020 Toyota RAV4.
The RAV4 is the country’s top-selling SUV, and one of the main reasons for this sales success is due to the RAV4 Hybrid lineup. After all, they get fantastic gas mileage, more power than their gasoline-powered counterparts and are a very strong value.
An ideal example of the difficult choice potential consumers have on their hands is with the Limited trim level. I recently had the opportunity to compare both the 2020 RAV4 Limited AWD and the 2020 RAV4 Limited Hybrid. Very interesting to say the least.
Price difference between 2020 RAV4 trims
Since the 2020 RAV4 Limited Hybrid is an all-wheel drive, it only makes sense to compare specs for the Limited gasoline powered AWD model as well.
First off, there is not a giant price difference between these two grades. Expect a factory MSRP of $35,880 for Limited AWD and $36,880 for Limited Hybrid. Only $1000 exactly separates the two. Whether this is an important factor or not is up to you.
One thing to consider is whether you need an all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive if you are considering the RAV4 gasoline version. Factory pricing decreases to $34,480 for Limited FWD models.
MPG for RAV4 Limited AWD vs RAV4 Limited Hybrid
All 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid vehicles have the same gas mileage, which is 41 in the city, 38 on the highway and 40 combined. This is terrific fuel efficiency and will certainly save people money and time at the pumps.
A Limited AWD 2020 RAV4 combines for 28mpg, which equates to 25 in the city and 33 on the highway. While this is significantly less fuel efficiency compared to RAV4 Hybrid, it may not be all the important to you currently. With gas prices at their lowest levels they have been in many years, perhaps the threat of rising fuel costs will not affect your decision-making process this time around.
Powertrain differences
The engine and transmission combination is where there are major differences between these two Limited trim levels. Both grades feature a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, but this is where similarities end.
RAV4 Limited Hybrid utilizes electric motors working in sync with the engine to produce 219 horsepower. Other than the upcoming 2021 RAV4 Prime, which produces just over 300 horsepower, 2020 RAV4 Hybrid is the most powerful in the RAV4 lineup.
As with most Toyota hybrid models, Limited Hybrid features an electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (ECVT) with sequential shift mode, which is a shift from traditional gasoline powered RAV4 transmission.
The 2020 RAV4 Limited AWD uses a direct-shift 8-speed automatic transmission working in combination with the same 2.5-liter 4-cyl to produce 203 horsepower.
All-wheel drive systems
Hybrid RAV4 models for this current generation utilize an on-demand all-wheel drive with Trail mode. This on-demand system only works as an AWD when there is loss of traction. To be as fuel-efficient as possible, when not needed, 2020 RAV4 Limited AWD operates as a front-wheel drive vehicle.
Get used to this technical group of buzzwords, and it is a long one. Dynamic torque vectoring all-wheel drive with rear driveline disconnect. This unique and state-of-the-art system allows your 2020 RAV4 Limited AWD to send up to 50 percent of the vehicle’s available torque to the rear wheels as needed, and then it can also distribute this power to each individual left and right side based on which one needs it most.
Using this system to its full potential allows you to take advantage of your 2020 RAV4’s ability to drive off the beaten path along uneven trails and river or rock beds.
Time for your thoughts on 2020 RAV4
Thanks for reading my story. I would love to hear your experiences with Toyota RAV4. Do you own or have you driven either a gasoline or Hybrid 2020 RAV4? What do you think so far? Would you consider a Hybrid for your next Toyota, and if not, how come?
