N55 engine dtc 28A0
Hi.
All MHH members. I’m Carsolution from Indonesia.
I need help, maybe there’s some one here who has experience with my problem.
I’ve customer car, is BMW X6 3.5i E71 N55 engine year 2013.
Car came to my garage with lost some power, he said when his drive, there’s some sound and drive gear go to «N» it self.
I check, I found 2 trouble, 2774 (airflow) and 28A0 (intake pipe absolute pressure).
I look, sensor pressure has been remove from intake pipe, and make a «hole» there.
So I ordered intake pipe and replace it. After that I don’t scann again, test drive all seem fine.
Car has been taken by customer, but day after that, he bring back car with Engine light up.
I check again, and found just 28A0 still there. cleared, but a minute dtc back again.
I try to change 2 intake manifold pressure with another (normal) car, airflow, but still not change.
28A0 still exist. try found probable cause on web, but I can’t find the way out.
Hope there’s some one here have experience like mine, any one who knows about this thread please help.

What diagnostic tool do you have? pressure too high means waste gate not opening as expected so not relieving intake manifold of pressure when accelerator released?

Thanks friend, I think the pressure converter valve problems, when check a view times, find valve some times not close.
You’re right sir. , for simply scan I use Launch, and more use ICOM.

Right Willisodhiambo, after change damage intake pipe and still got 28A0, after check pressure valve converter, and found
valve some times can’t shutoff. changed it and test drive again. 28A0 has gone. and car run perfect/

После замены клапанной крышки появился неприятный симптом — на горячую (когда машина после остановки постоит некоторое время) медленный запуск двигателя — а именно: обороты доходили до 500 и потом медленно поднимались до своего обычного уровня. ХХ был отменный — стрелка никуда не дергалась. Я списал все на то, что коррекции не удаляли, до этого была «дырка» в мембране и машина адаптировалась под тот уровень воздушных масс, мол покатаюсь и все пройдет. Действительно через некоторое время все прошло и подобное поведение было очень редко — можешь кататься день и все хорошо, а может и 1-2 раза за день, но действительно не часто.
Затем в январе было две поездки Кировоград-Киев. В первую поездку заправился сокаром (98 нано), на утром — нестабильный плавающий холостой ход. В этот же день пришлось опять смотаться по тому же маршруту, на сей раз заправлялся Амиком. В Киеве на заправке еще обороты немного плавали, но после 300 км пробега все нормализировалось и в принципе все было хорошо. До среды. А в среду сначала пару раз машина так же медленно запускалась, а потом обороты ХХ стали на уровне 600 (это при том же у меня уже они подняты +100), на светофорах машина хочет заглохнуть, а возле дома при переключении в P она таки заглохла… Запускаю — заводится и снова глохнет. Оставил где-то на полчаса, почитали ошибки:
Машина завелась, не глохла, но работает на грани — такое впечатление что вот вот заглохнет, моторчик задыхается. В общем поставил в гараж, вчера еле добрался до сервиса, чтобы сделать дым. На втором скрине что предлагает сделать рейн. Сделали дым — система впуска герметична. Картер — мокрый задний сальник коленвала, но он мокрый с 2018 года, как я купил машину и под машиной капель масла нет, в гараже бетонный пол то каждую каплю хорошо видно, если она есть.
Дроссель — чист, очень чист. Сняли датчик давления во впускном коллекторе. Почистили карбом, поставили обратно. Ситуацию особо не поправило.
Вопрос: кто сталкивался и в какую сторону копать? Пока есть мысли заменить задний сальник, он уже год как куплен и ждет своей замены. Но что-то мне подсказывает, что дело не в этом.

Well yeah to a degree I think I know what�s going on. My serpentine belt shredded as I was pulling into my house when this all began. Luckily wasnt going fast at all but it seems to had been enough to break through the crankshaft seal. It�s currently at a friends shop now for oil pan removal to get any pieces out. The truck started fine but after a few seconds it would get the oil ticking noise. Couple people told me it sounds like oil starvation as well which correlated that some of the belt is probably clogging the oil pump pick up tube. Makes sense so I had it towed to the shop without starting it anymore to limit further damage.
Before coming to this likely conclusion, my buddy came with rheingold and it offered various things to check. Sensors were obvious ones, checking the throttle body was another. I had already done that. But my leak and variation in pressure is likely from the crank seal. A clogged PCV valve was also something it mentioned you could look into, but that unfortunately requires changing the whole valve cover as it�s built in there on the N55. In extreme cases, I came across people that had bearing caps failing on their camshaft, but that guy was over 100k and mentioned lack of oil changes. I mean I bought my X5 used and only has 57k on it now, can�t imagine it would be that extreme especially since I got the code right after my belt snapped.
How exactly did yours start? What symptoms were you having? Any other codes being thrown?
Hey thanks for the info. Ha same issue. I thought I had fixed the ofhg, a few weeks later the belt shredded. I did a scope inside the timing chain to crank, no belt inside. Drained oil a few times and just a few tiny belt bits came out initially, but all clear now in the filter and drained oil.
Car has good oil pressure at all rpms, sounds good and drives good so far.
I try swapping the maf and map on the intake manifold, if that doesn’t work, I’ll just trade it in I guess
