Before the arrival of the Nissan Qashqai in our market, we take a look at how it will fare against the Jeep Compass in this specs, features and safety comparison. Nissan is expanding its operations in India. It announced 3 new SUVs for our market including the Qashqai, X-Trail and Juke. The aim is to try and grab the entire SUV segment of our market. Jeep Compass, on the other hand, has established a niche for itself in the premium mid-size SUV segment. Let us compare the two here taking into account what the Qashqai comes with, in the international market.
Nissan Qashqai vs Jeep Compass – Specs Comparison
The Qashqai comes powered by a 1.3-litre mild hybrid petrol (2WD and 4WD) and a 1.5-litre e-Power hybrid petrol (2WD) engine. The former develops 156 hp and 270 Nm, while the latter is good for 188 hp and 330 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. The mild hybrid comes with a 6-speed MT and an AT gearbox, whereas the strong hybrid comes with a sole Automatic transmission.
On the other hand, the Compass comes with a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine making 163 hp and 250 Nm and a 2.0-litre diesel engine that churns out 170 hp and 350 Nm of peak power and torque. There are options of a 6-speed MT, a 7-speed DCT or a 9-speed AT gearbox. The top trims of the Compass come with 4×4 capabilities.
The safety features on the Compass include 6 airbags, rain brake support, hill hold/ descent control, a 360-degree camera setup, electronic roll mitigation, and a brake lock differential. Also, connected car technology includes in-vehicle data, location-based services, stolen vehicle assist, geofencing, and driver analytics.
